summer recap - August

August was HOT and besides the lake trip and our first trip to urgent care (b/c of the battery incident) we spent a lot of time indoors.

Cooling off after a nice bath...

Shopping for the impending (hopefully impending - we were desperate for fall) cooler weather. Definitely could not get my experienced little shopper out of either the jacket or the shoes and since both were on sale she now has the pleasure of wearing them anytime she wants to. We spent several mornings at Discovery Place which is newly redone and has a great toddler play area.

My kiddos love the water table. Except for Andrew when I tried to get him in a smock. He must have known it didn't look incredibly manly on him.

A little more of what staying inside this hot August looked like... (not always pretty - in terms of my 'moves')...

My favorite things about that video:
1. Caleigh playing 'duty shop' (= beauty shop) on my hair.  And her focus in doing it.  And the way she says beauty shop.  I hope she never says beauty correctly because I love it when she says she wants to play 'duty shop'.  And I love her playing with my hair.
2. Andrew dancing of course.
3. The fact that Andrew's shirt was wet with drool - in August he finally got his 7th tooth (the one to the right of the bottom two) - and Andrew did not like that thing coming in one bit.
4. Caleigh calling Andrew "bubby" because literally that is basically all she ever calls him.  A mix of brother and buddy that she coined when she was around 2.  She really never calls him Andrew.
5. The fact that we are dancing to a song that was on a video recorded by our friends' the Hunts of their 2nd son Foard crawling for the first time.  And the fact that Caleigh thinks it is a video of Andrew.  Hilarious.
6. Andrew 'talking' in various phases of grunting.  Because until about 15 months of age that was all we ever heard besides the occasional mama or dada babbling.

In August we also had supper club.  We did a Hawaiian theme and hosted it at our condo.

 We enjoyed chicken, pineapple, pepper, and onion kebabs on the grill and fun accompaniments.

It was a blast!

Bailey loves vacation as much as we do. Or maybe more since Yasmin is there too. Lots of early morning pics. I LOVE this picture! This is such a great picture of Caleigh and Karen... And finally - a picture with David in it :) The curse of being the designated photographer. Love love loved our time at the lake this year.

golf action shots (August)

While we were at the lake we played golf a couple times. I love to golf - we had a great time and David took some great actions shots of us.

riverbanks zoo (August)

We took a day trip to the zoo with the kids while we were at the lake too. I don't know who loved it more - the kids - us - or David who got to test out a bunch of settings on his camera.

Great family shot!

Caleigh was so much braver about feeding the animals than the last time we were at the zoo (July of 2009). She did a great job feeding the giraffes. And the llamas, and the goats... And she "milked" a cow! It was a hot day - not the best hair styles for any of us - Does she look like it's hot outside? Adam, wishing he could be a park ranger for the day... And my experienced little shopper - walking like she knows what she is doing (which of course she does).
